The Ford XB Falcon ‘John Goss Special’, released in mid 1975 to commemorate the 1974 John Goss/Kevin Bartlett Bathurst victory in the privateer backed McLeod Ford Falcon GT hardtop.
The ‘John Goss Special’ featured Polar White duco with a sporty accent colour of either Apollo Blue or Emerald Fire, offset by bright orange decals and stripes. They also featured body colour (white) 12 slot sports road wheels, body colour bumpers and front grille, a GT bonnet with locking pins and decorative GT side vents. All were powered by the 302 cu. in. Cleveland V8 with the choice of 4 speed floor shift manual or a 3 speed T-bar automatic.
As for Mr. John Goss himself, not only was he a successful racer and a hero to the Ford fans campaigning the mighty Falcon GT and GT-HO to numerous victories during golden age of the Aussie muscle car, he remains the only driver ever to win an Australian Grand Prix (1976) and the Bathurst 1000… twice!
